Iowa author Linda McCann will present a talk on her newly released book, Rosie the Riveters of Iowa, on Wednesday, January 17 at 2 PM at Hawkins Memorial Library, La Porte City.

Rosie the Riveter was a promotional campaign to encourage women to go to work during World War II. Men had left jobs to fight in the war, and women were needed to fill those jobs.

Iowa had 70 companies with military contracts during WWII. Linda spoke with 35 women who worked during the war and will share their memories. Copies of the Rosie book, plus all of Linda's other books, will be available for purchase for $20 each, cash or checks only.

Linda Betsinger McCann is the author of non-fiction Iowa history; including Prisoners of War in Iowa; Prohibition in Iowa; several books about the Civilian Conservation Corps in different areas of Iowa; and The Vanished Towns of the Cedar Valley series
