On May 20 The Izaak Walton League will be hosting their annual Sportsman's Day. This is a day of fun and activity designed to get children involved and excited about shooting sports and the outdoors. This year, they are excited to announce that they will be teaming up with the Blue Creek Springtime Monarchs (Benton County's National Wild Turkey Federation chapter) and will be combining JAKES Day with the Sportsman's Day!
Registration starts @ 8:00 am and safety brief and events start @ 9:00 am at the Izaak Walton clubhouse at 1234 rt 150 Vinton. This is a free event to children of all ages. Children under 10 will need an adult present. Activities will include trap shooting, .22 rifle shooting, archery, campsite bushcraft demo with hands on fun, and tours of the native prairie surrounding the property. There will be a free door prize raffle available to everyone who participates. Lunch will be provided by the Benton County Cattlemen's Association and bottled water will be available.
All stations will have personnel on hand trained in the respective activity and basic range safety. All participants will first be briefed in range safety and expected to be on their best conduct. Participants who cannot adhere to these expectations will be asked to leave. The safety of all participants is our top priority.
