Freida Geiken, born Freida Brehm, had many stories to tell about the hardships of growing up on a farm outside Vinton, and about the early days of farming with her husband and raising a family. She also told about the discrimination her family endured during World War I, as they had come from Germany. Freida died in 1998 at age 103.

More of her story will be told this Friday, March 25 at a free showing of "Her Own Story: A Montage of Benton County Women" The presentation will be held at the Palace Theater from 4:30pm - 5:15pm
