Benton County Early Childhood Iowa is co-sponsoring a Child Development Fair in Vinton on April 13th from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the Grant Wood Area Education Agency. The event will be held at the Skate and Activity Center at 1703 C Avenue. Families from Vinton and the surrounding communities will be provided free vision, hearing and developmental screenings, access to available services in the community for families and young children, as well as free handouts and gifts.
Groups that may be represented at the fair include but are not limited to: ABBE Center, Above the Influence, Benton County Extension, Benton County Farm Bureau, Benton County Volunteer Program, Child Care Nurse Consultant, Child & Adult Care Food Program, Child Care Resource & Referral, Crisis Care, Grace C Mae Advocate Center, Four Oaks, Grant Wood AEA 10, Happytime Child Development, Horizon’s Family Support, Ican, Iowa Health Physicians, KidSight, North Benton Family Resource, PACES, St. Luke’s Child Protection Center, TLC Preschool, United HealthCare/Hawk-I, V/S Mothers of Preschoolers, V/S Tiny Vikes Preschool, Vinton Library, Virginia Gay Hospital Home Health, WIC as well as Benton County Early Childhood Iowa.
Along with the Grant Wood vision screening, a more in-depth vision screening for children 6 months to 5 years will be offered courtesy of the KidSight Program provided by the Lion’s Club’s. To pre-schedule a screening appointment, contact Randi Walker at 319/560-8714.
