Events and Activities : Garrison Fun Day July 10

Garrison Fun Day is an annual fundraiser for the Garrison Emergency Services Foundation. The event is hosted by Garrison Fire Dept, Garrison First Responders and the Garrison Fire Auxiliary. In conjunction with our 13th annual Show & Shine Car show we have added a craft show to this year's events for a Cars & Crafts Street Fair. This event will take place on Main Street & in the Farmer's Mercantile Building from 12-5pm. 30+ booths with a wide variety of crafts & vendors will be on hand. As well the Garrison Lions Club will be serving concessions from 11-3pm at the Farmer's Mercantile building.
Registration for the Car show begins at 1pm with a $10 Entry. Dash plaques provided for the first 50 entries. People's choice voting with multiple categories of judging! Awards will be announced at 4pm.
Kids Events start at 1pm with Bike Races in the park. Generous donations from Koop's Automotive, Cedar Valley Bank & Trust, John's Qwik stop, John Anderson, The Golden Comb, Pure Romance by Jenni Flickinger and the Garrison Fire Auxiliary will provide prizes for the Bike races. A Jr.Firefighter Competition will take place from 2:30-4pm near Main Street. Goodie bags will be handed out to participants while supplies last.
Things move to the Hitchin' Post at 5pm for the annual BBQ Dinner. Tyson - Waterloo & Fareway-Vinton have provided donations of Pork and salads for the dinner. Dinner will be served from 5-8pm with Free Will Donation covering Dinner and Dance for guests. Curbside service will also be available for those who prefer that option. At 6:30 pm the Garrison Fire Department and members of the Iowa Firefighters Association will present awards to Paul Schellhase (57 years-retired), Marvin Trimble (40 years) and Rick Rommann (32 years-retired) for their years of service and dedication to the Garrison Fire.
From 8pm-Midnight Four Day Creep takes the stage for the evening. Four Day Creep is a classic rock/southern rock/70's Rock band! $5 admission after 8pm for the Dance only.
