When you’re getting through a drab Iowa winter you’re entitled to a little fancy frivolous fun by February and that’s just what the Friends of the Center Point Library is planning. Friends meets Thursday night, Feb. 3, at 6:30 in the Library basement and top of the agenda will be putting the last fancy touches on plans for a Fancy Nancy tea party Saturday, Feb. 26.
You can have fun by helping host the party or by attending. Friends meetings, the first Thursday of each month, are always open to the public and always welcome new faces and new ideas and new energy. The Fancy Nancy fund raising fling will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 26 in the Library basement. There is room for 20 adult/child couples by reservation only. Reservations ($15 per adult/child couple) are due by Friday, Feb. 18.
The soiree (that’s fancy for party) will include tea and cocoa with fancy sandwiches and desserts and fancy activities such as doing make up and accessories, making a fantastic fan, and dressing fabulous Fancy Nancy paper dolls. Guests are invited to come in their most extremely gorgeous outfits. Tiaras are definitely appropriate. (For inspiration the Library has a fine collection of the Fancy Nancy books to check out. And don’t miss the Fancy Nancy display in the Library curio cabinet!)
All the lovely money from the lovely party will go to the Library to help with supplies, equipment and programs such as the twice weekly Story Hour for kids. Reservation forms and the Friends “mail” box are available at the Library or mail your reservation names and checks to Friends treasurer: Roberta Gilchrist, 4089 Grubbs Creek Road, Center Point IA 52213. Checks should be made to Friends of the Library.
