Events and Activities : Christmas celebrations: Things to do and ways to help others

Saturday

Brandon Church of Christ will be holding a service on Saturday, December 11 beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Singing will be the Men's Barber Shop Quartet. The Remnant Dance Team will perform as well as other musical selections.

Blessed Hope Church, 1509 M Ave, (Behind Theisen's) will hold a Cookie Walk beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Cookies will be on sale beginning at 9 a.m. and run until the last crumb is gone, until about 11 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the Blessed Hope Youth Group missions trip for 2011 as well as their trip to Dare2Share.

Sunday

Blessed Hope will also be holding their Annual Christmas Program Sunday the 12th, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Tour Delights 5K run will also be kicking off at 4 p.m. with registration and the run will begin at 5 p.m. on Sunday from the US Bank Bldg.

Cooling Dance will also be presenting their annual December Concert, “A Holiday Dance Spectacular 2010.” on Sunday at 1:00, 4:00, and 7:00 p.m. at the VSHS auditorium, with a mere $2.00 admission!

Christmas Giving Opportunities

Remember also the various giving trees around the area. Angel Trees are at Farmers Bank & Trust as well as US Bank.

Tree of Miracles, that will help the elderly in the community are located both at Vinton Lutheran Home as well as Windsor Manor.

Virginia Gay Hospital is also holding their Tree of Lights campaign to continue to support special projects over the year.

VGH is also collection toys for area children.

G&G Auto Parts also is once again collecting today to hand out.
