Beginning on Saturday, October 27

The Spooktacular Day will take place at the Benton County Courthouse lawn, beginning at 10 a.m. for grade school and younger children. There will be games and pumpkins to decorate and treats. The children will then participate in the downtown trick-or-treat parade,at 10:45 visiting many businesses.

Open Skate Costume Party and Ghostly Glow Mini-Golf

Anyone who wears a Halloween costume (more than just a mask) to the Vinton Skate Center from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, will get a $1 off skate admission and entered in the VPRD Halloween costume contest. And the mini-golf course will be lit up with scary lights for those who wish to try their luck and test their nerve.

FEE: skate-$4.50/skater ($1 off if wearing a costume); mini golf-$2/round

City wide trick or treating will run from 5-7 p.m. in Vinton on Halloween, Wednesday, Oct. 31.

On Wednesday, October 31, MOPS and MomsNext will host a Trunk or Treat event at the Blessed Hope Church parking lot which will run from 4:30-5:30. This will include hot dogs, chips and water and a TON of candy!

The "Be The Change" fitness group will also offer Trunk or Treat options for the kiddos on the 1st Avenue block (by Ron-Da-Voo/ Farm Bureau office ) from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

United Methodist Church, located at 516 2nd Ave. will also hold a Trunk or Treat with hot dogs and chips and offer pictures of you in your costume. This event starts runs from 5-7:00 p.m.

Don't forget to stop at VGH Nursing and Rehab, the Lutheran Home and Windsor Manor!

Sunday November 4

The Vinton Parks and Recreation Department will also continue its Halloween season traditions.

On Sunday, Nov. 4, the annual Jack-O-Lantern Jump will begin at 2 p.m. at the water slide of the pool. All area residents are invited to come drop their carved and hallowed-out pumpkins to see if they can hit a target.
