Thousands of Scouts and volunteers representing the Hawkeye Area Council, Boy Scouts of America will go door-to-door collecting non-perishable food items to assist those in need during the annual Scouting For Food Drive. Scouting For Food, led by the Boy Scouts of America, is the largest nationwide community stewardship project aimed at addressing the problem of hunger in the communities Scouting serves. Leading up to the event, Scouts will deliver collection bags to each home throughout the seven counties served by the Hawkeye Area Council (Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, & Washington Counties).
Please fill the collection bag with non-perishable (please no expired items, frozen foods or glass containers) and leave on your front doorstep for Scouts to collect by 8:00 AM on Saturday, October 15. The donated food items will be given to the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) and many other local food pantries and churches for distribution to the needy. If your bag is inadvertently not collected by 12:00 PM, please deliver to HACAP or your local food pantry.
For the local Scouting For Food Drive, the Hawkeye Area Council partners with Rockwell Collins, International Paper, HACAP, & KCRG. This is also a ‘Show You Care’ sponsored event. Questions can be directed to the Hawkeye Area Council, Boy Scouts of America at 319862-0541. Information on Scouting can be found at www.HawkeyeBSA.org (locally) or www.Scouting.org (nationally).

Pack 47 will be distributing the bags on Sunday, October 9th and picking up on Saturday, October 15th.

Pack 43 will be handing out bags on Saturday, September 24 and picking them up on October 15th.
