Just eight days from now, cars will be rolling into town for some great outside shopping and street vending, complimented by live music and inflatables downtown for BOOMFEST…locals and visitors alike will be able to experience the wares of vendors from all around eastern IA, all the while being reminded by a certain “Boom Clock” of what is in store for Saturday night!

With the final planning nearing completion and the pieces falling into place, now is a good time to remind not only our Vinton friends, but also all of those traveling into town of just a few small things…

1. While we do have a nice lawn seating area for our visitors, it is not a place for pets or little ones with sensitive ears. If the roar of the crowd doesn’t bother them, it’s quite likely that the percussions and the fireballs will. If the young ones want to come, we strongly urge the important purchase of earplugs prior to the event. For pets, we suggest putting them in an interior room of your home with a light on and either a radio or T.V. for comfort noise.

2. We have a great band, Crazy Delicious, back for an encore performance this year; entertaining all of us before the “pyrotechnic main event” at dusk and then taking the stage again until midnight. Instead of trying to jump in line and join the exiting traffic, we suggest you stop by and spend some time with the band. Relax instead of rush!

3. Bring your bug spray and bring a blanket. We may still have some late season gnats, and once that sun goes down, so does the temperature!

4. There will be 17 food vendors on site, which, sounds like plenty, but when our crowds roll in, the lines get a little long. Please be patient. Those vendors will be working fast and furiously to keep you moving.

5. Please respect your Boomtown security and your Boomtown committee, it takes a lot of structure to ensure a successful event, we are all there, working for you. Our parking committee has been hard at work trying to maximize our parking areas within the fairgrounds so please, follow their lead when you arrive, their hard work provides the best means for a smooth exit as we can have.

6. Please respect your neighbors; this is a Family Friendly environment. Manners and patience are welcome; profanity and rude behavior are not. No exceptions.

7. Parking is $10 per car. Admission is $10 per person.

8. Tailgating is encouraged at Boomtown…it is a “Party in the Dark” after all!!

All we ask is that you don’t overflow into spots that can be used for parking…and that you pick up after yourselves. The same people that are working so hard to put your show together, are the same people that are responsible for clean up on Sunday ~ be kind to us! J

9. For more information on our event, call 319-558-7476.

This is it….just 8 mere days. We hope you’re as excited as we are!

See you all very soon!
