The Eastern Iowa Honor Flights organization is welcoming all area residents to a unique fund-raising event this Saturday, Aug. 6.

This exciting new family-friendly event will include a plane pulling contest, plane rides from the Young Eagles, static displays from our military and emergency services, fighter plane from University of Iowa, climbing wall from the National Guard, food and drink for purchase, and the opportunity to meet and thank some of our brave Veterans.

Join us this Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Eastern Iowa Airport for a lot of fun, food, flight and feats of strength. All to support a great cause: Our Veterans!

Various teams will be in competition to see who can pull a FedEx 757 aircraft the farthest in the fastest time. All proceeds will go to the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight.

Additionally, there will be food, activities for kids, static displays, and airplane rides provided for up to 200 young people aged 8-17. The opening ceremony is 8:30 AM. The aircraft pull starts at 9:00 AM, as to the plane rides by the Young Eagles.

We invite everybody to come out, meet some of our Veterans, have a great time, and support the Veterans and Eastern Iowa Honor Flight.

Individuals and families can support Eastern Iowa Honor Flight through this event in three ways:

(1) Attend the event and make a good-will donation.

(2) Make a donation here online. Each $100 donation will add a star to the banner we are creating to honor our Veterans.

(3) Sign up a team of people to compete in the Plane Pull. Cost is $100 per individual puller with a minimum of 15 pullers and maximum of 25 pullers makes a team. Make your donations to pull online at the link below and register your team by email at easterniowahonorflight@gmail.com. Space for pulling teams is limited.
