Kirkwood Community College will hold two events of interest to job-seekers and those seeking new career options. The college’s Career Services office will hold a “Jobs 411” information session on Tuesday, Oct. 19, and a fall Career Fair on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Both sessions will be held in the Iowa Rooms, third floor of Iowa Hall on the Cedar Rapids campus.
The Jobs 411 program will help educate job seekers about the interviewing and hiring practices of four key local employers: Mercy Medical Center, the Skywalk Group, and Genencor, plus a local human resources professional currently on assignment with Rockwell Collins. Representatives of the four firms will be on hand for discussions of current and possible future openings. Free resume’ critiques will be offered after the event.
The Career Fair event will give attendees an opportunity to talk with employer representatives from about 50 companies in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City area. The career program hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Kirkwood Career Services staff members estimate that more than 500 people attended the 2009 job information events. The programs are free and open to the public.
