The Center Point Friends of the Library first-ever Garden Walk was blessed with gorgeous weather and gorgeous gardens Saturday, June 18.
The following generous hosts opened their gardens for the Library fund-raiser: Vern and Carma Almandinger (Center Point Garden Club members), Karen and Craig Bacheler at Interstate Grain Service, Dusty Sylver and Mike LeClaire, Teresa and Dan Scheeler, and Dennis and Linda Schlicht. Nathan Schnell hosted at his public hosta garden at Fross Park. The Center Point Garden Club public butterfly garden at Fross Park was hosted by Friends president and Garden Club president Dorothea Wood.
Door prizes were donated by Sherbon’s Flower Market in Walker, Frontier Garden Center on Blairs Ferry Rd. in Cedar Rapids, and Friends member Rozena McVey.
Door prize winners were: Randy Gager, Center Point; Patty Anderson, Alburnett; and Jean Wright, Center Point. Molly Stuelke, Center Point Parks & Recreation coordinator, did the drawing honors.
Friends and the city shared the main pavilion at the park for Parks & Rec’s 3rd annual Franks at Fross event and the Friends donated plant sale.
Two weeks earlier—June 4--Friends had its annual used book sale/bake sale, the first event to be held in the new Library community room.
The next Friends meeting is Wednesday, July 6, at 6:30 at the Library. Come and bring a friend.
