Events and Activities : Pearl Harbor ceremony set for Monday, Dec. 7, at VSMS

As it is each year at Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School, Pearl Harbor Day will be observed Monday, 7 December 2015, from 12:15-1pm at VSMS LMC. This year's theme will be the 100th anniversary of the launching of the USS Arizona and the death of Joseph Langdell back in February. He was the last surviving officer of the Arizona.

Eighth grade teacher Alex Vasquez and his students will lead the tribute to those who died on Dec. 7, 1941, and discuss events of that day, their impact, and things that led up to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

The public is invited.
