Events and Activities : Vinton Kiwanis Club Celebrates 100 Years at Annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday

It is certainly that time of year – a time when we are all looking forward to warmer weather just around the corner.

It is also that time of year for the Vinton Kiwanis Club’s Annual Pancake Breakfast held at the Vinton Skate and Activity Center. This year the event will be held Saturday, March 7th from 7 AM – 1 PM, with a slight change in serving times to better accommodate people who attend.

Since 1960 the Kiwanis Club members have rolled up their sleeves, donned their chef hats, shined up their pancake flippers and warmed up the grills to serve pancakes and sausage to all who come.

The club uses the proceeds as its main fundraiser to support many local projects in the community not limited to: Kiwanis Park improvements, college scholarships, Youth Leadership Programs, Dictionaries for 3rd Graders, Annual Kiwanis Christmas Party for Special Needs Children and many more.

This year is no ordinary year though, Kiwanis International Celebrates its 100th Birthday and we are making this year EXTRA SPECIAL. We will have face painting and tattoos for all children in attendance with the talented Vinton-Shellsburg Voyager Dance Team wielding the mighty brush. And something for the big kids as well: prize drawings of four $25 VU Dollars Certificates and one $100 VU Dollars Certificate.

Tickets are available now for $5 from any Kiwanis Member or by visiting Farmers Savings Bank and the Vinton Livewire or tickets will be sold at the door for $6. Either way when you come and enjoy your breakfast your tickets will be entered into the prize drawing.
