A program entitled "Straight-Laced Girls, Uptight Ladies, and Loose Women" will take place Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM at the Ray House in Vinton.

Join us as we welcome Kathy Wilson, Director of the Granger House Museum in Marion, for an entertaining look at the changing role of American women in the 18th and 19th centuries including:

  • What it really means to be “straight-laced”.
  • Discover what corsets and gun clubs have in common.
  • How the house took on new importance for our female ancestors.
  • Why a man’s home wasn’t really his castle, but rather his wife’s!

Kathy will be serving up an assorment of fascinating insights into Victorian life that are responsible for creating many ideas about women and the home embraced by society today-this is one program you won't want to miss!
