The team that first brought area breast cancer survivors together a few years ago is inviting them back again next week.

The annual Pink Night for the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette basketball team will take place this Tuesday, Feb. 3. T-shirt sales and other fund-raisers will help the Breast Cancer Survivors of Benton County to help other women fight the disease and also help area women through the VGH Gifts of Hope Fund, which provides free breast care services for those who cannot afford them.

The first Vikette basketball Pink Night took place in January of 2010. After that event, the survivors who were invited to attend decided to form an organization. They now meet the first week of every month at Windsor Manor.

One of the fund-raisers this year is a donation contest at the high school. Students can make a donation in a teacher's name. The teacher who brings in the most money will be the lucky recipient of a pie in the face during Tuesday's game.
