Fall Festival Slated for September 21st in La Porte City

Fall is in the air, and there is no better way to celebrate the delights of season than La Porte City Museum’s Fall Festival Sunday, September 21st, from 11-3. This old fashion family fun filled event has something for everyone and is jam packed with food, music, a variety of vendors, live demonstrations, and loads of free activities and entertainment.

Food: The Museum will be serving a pulled pork sandwich meal or a hot dog meal for $5.00, homemade pie, hand packed ice cream and a variety of baked goods will be offered by vendors.

Music: The Atomic Fireballs will be playing throughout the day.

Activities: We are turning our backyard into a barnyard! Kids will delight in Hovick Farm’s Zoo. They can pet a llama, feed a mini pot-bellied pig, or hold a baby chick. Pony rides will be available for $1.00 donation. Or maybe they would like to explore in our hay fort, participate in our pedal tractor pull or other country fun contests. The La Porte City Firemen will offer water ball fights from 12-3 for adults or children. Double Lung Archery will be open and offer free bow shooting.

Entertainment: A vintage tractor display will line the 500 block of Main Street. Street vendors will offer a variety of goods including pottery, textiles, jewelry, face painting, spin art, and pumpkins, gourds, and fall décor. We will offer free admission to our main museum which features a brand new exhibit highlighting the works of local artist, cartoonist, and educator Herb Hake. (Special thanks to the Cedar Falls Historical Society and the UNI Archives Collection for their contributions to this exhibit.) Visitors will also have the opportunity for a sneak peek at our new Rural Heritage Center which features our historic fire station and jailhouse and an 1861 log cabin. Don’t miss the Spinners and Weavers Guild live demonstrations.

Come join us and celebrate fall! All proceeds from the event support the restoration of our 1861 log cabin.
