The public is invited to E.C.H.O. Ministries’ Open House this Thursday, July 10, 10 am-8pm, located at 109 W 4th (formerly Mahood’s Shoes). Refreshments will be served, with drawings for door prizes throughout the day.
E.C.H.O. (Every Church Helping Others) Ministries, is made up of individuals from local congregations with the mission of showing mercy to those in need.
Board members include: Loel and Victoria Fink, Kevin and Deb Hesson, Jim Huber, Janie Kalina, Mike Martin, Ken and Candy Osterhaus, Okee and Randi Walker, Greg Walston and Zach Zajicek.
The center is open from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, also by appointment, with the potential of increasing staff and hours as needed. Besides providing basic physical necessities (furniture, appliances, household items, etc.)
E.C.H.O. is an avenue for emotional and spiritual support. This is accomplished through one-on-one listening and by networking with area churches, human service agencies and organizations. In addition to financial contributions, E.C.H.O. is currently accepting tangible donations of furniture and household items, such as chairs, tables, end-tables, sofas, mattress sets, dressers, bed linens, towels, microwaves, and small kitchen appliances. The organization’s philosophy is that Christians and churches have a responsibility to help those in need; the theme verse comes from Micah chapter 6: “What can we bring to the Lord? What kind of offerings should we give him? The Lord has told you what he requires of you: To do what is right, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
