Martha Long, Genealogical Expert, will present a program at the Horridge House, 612 1st Ave, Vinton at 1:00 pm, Friday, July 18 to help anyone interested in discovering how to begin research your family’s history. Martha will provide tips and ideas to starting filling out your family tree. She will share what the newly organized Genealogical Center of the Historical Society housed at the Horridge House, has to offer to help you with your search. There will be free handouts and an opportunity to meet with Martha to discuss how to implement a search of your family history.

Martha Long has a wealth of information to share. She began her love of genealogy while starting her own family history. It quickly turned into her passion which she is excited to share with others. After the July 2011 windstorm that caused significant structural damage to the Horridge House, Martha was asked if she would help the Historical Society put the genealogical research center back in operation. She has been busy going through the records, organizing them in practical order for easy access to people doing family history research. Martha has recruited other volunteers to have the center open on Friday afternoons. Her dedication and her enthusiasm to reorganize the genealogical department are deeply appreciated.

Space is limited for the July 18th programs please RSVP to Martha at jimartlong@aol.com or 472-4465.
