Events and Activities : Eight teams preparing for VS alumni basketball event Dec. 21

Eight teams have signed up for the first-ever Vinton-Shellsburg alumni men's basketball event, which begins at noon this Saturday, Dec. 21.

Former players from 1985 through 2012 are planning to compete. The eight teams' coaches are: Matt Sima/Ross Timmermans, Jake Fish, AJ Wygle, Brody Beatty, Jim Womochil, Scott Meier, Adam Fish and Ryan Davis.

Games will be 16 min halves with continuous clock until the last 2 minutes. Each game will last about 45 min. The championship game should take place around 5 - 5:15 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students, and under 5 free. Concessions will be available during the day. A reception will follow at Vinton Country Club at 8 p.m. Friends and family are encouraged to attend.
