National Ag Week to be celebrated in Benton County

Farmers put food on our plate, produce fiber, fuel and renewable resources, while protecting our land, air, and water. National Agriculture Week is March 10 - 16, 2019. Ag Week is about recognizing, and celebrating, the contributions of agriculture and the value it plays into maintaining a strong economy.

Mt. Auburn Fire Department to hold Breakfast, March 23

On Saturday, March 23, the Mount Auburn Firemans breakfast will be held from 7:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Mt. Auburn Legion.A free will offering donation is the cost of this event.

Stop the Bleeding - Class held by North Benton Ambulance

The Benton Ambulance Service will be offering a Stop the Bleed Class at the North Benton Ambulance from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. The event will be held on April 14 at the garage. This is a 2 hour class on how to best manage massive bleeding due to illness or injury. The training has been developed by the National College of Surgeons.

Just Us to hold Speed Networking Event

There will be a Speed Networking event held on Friday, March 29, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.Click to view FlyerThe event will be held at the LaReyna Restaurant in Vinton.If you are a woman looking for a change, a stay at home mom or someone looking for a different job, or just want a chance to share your business with others, this is a great opportunity to do that.

The Annual Relay for Life in Benton County will be held at the Benton Community School track on Friday, June 7. The annual event celebrates cancer survivors and remembers loved ones lost to cancer. The event is used to raise funds to help fight cancer and help to spread awareness.Last year, Relay for Life of Benton County raised more than $33,000 to help support cancer research.

American Legion Holds Tenderloin Dinner to Raise Support for the Legion

Thursday night if you arrived at the legion after 6:30, you were out of luck if your mouth was watering and wanting one of the tenderloins advertised by the Legion! I know that, because I was one of those people that pulled into town with my to do list and saw the sign for the tenderloin supper. All of my other plans flew out the window as I checked my clock and changed directions.

There will be a conversation on emerging drug trends. Parents, grandparents, educators, youth workers and community leaders are all welcome to attend. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 6th. The presentation: will begin be from 6:30 to 7:30PM (Q&A to follow) The event will take place at the Belle Plaine Community Center 1309 5th Ave, Belle Plaine.

Zora Ronan will do a presentation on “Starting Garden Transplants at Home.” Friends, the CP Library “booster club,” meets the third Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Library. New members are always welcome.

American Legion to hold Tenderloin Dinner

The Vinton American Legion will hold a Tenderloin Dinner on Thursday, February 28 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. For $8.00, you can get a 6 oz Tenderloin on a Kaiser Bun, with French Fries, Coleslaw and a Dessert. The Legion is located at 105 North R Ave. in Vinton.
