Mt. Auburn Legion Steak Fry April 6th

Style Show "Kick up your Heels" and Supper April 29

“Kick Up Your Heels” is the theme for this year's country themed style show sponsored by LaPorte City Women's Club at the LaPorte City Golf Course. Social hour proceeds the 6 o'clock supper of smoked brisket sliders, baked beans, an extraordinary salad bar, followed by fresh baked fruit cobbler.We're happy to announce The Buckle of Waterloo as a new addition to the style show this year.

POKER RUN ON THE IOWA WINE TRAIL

The Iowa Wine Trail, a non-profit educational organization representing nine eastern Iowa wineries, is pleased to announce a one-day Poker Run Event on the Iowa Wine Trail slated for Saturday, April 27 from 10a to 7pm. What’s a Poker Run? It's a fun, all-day event on the Iowa Wine Trail where ticket holders receive a poker card at each winery visited, then at the last stop of the day the players drop off their hand.

Experimental Aircraft Association to provide rides for kids ages 8-17

The EAA Young Eagles event will be held at the airport on June 8, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m."Young Eagles is a program through the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) through which kids ages 8-17 are given free rides in aircraft our own aircraft to introduce them to general aviation and flying. Since 1993 EAA has flown over 2 million kids world wide.

Vinton Shellsburg High School Speech Showcase at the Palace

The Vinton Shellsburg High School Speech Showcase will be held at the Palace on Sunday, April 14th at 2:00 p.m. Sarah Schminke, Grace Horst and Sam Kintzel will perform their All-State pieces, as well as several State Division I events including prose, poetry, expository address, public address, and storytelling will be performed.

Herring Hotel in Belle Plaine holds Annual Spring Tea

Breast Cancer Survivors to meet April 8

Breast cancer survivors will meet April 8 in the dining room of Windsor Manor at 5:45. Dinner is seven dollars; no reservations required. Come and hear updates on Pink Night at the basketball game and the upcoming Party in Pink. If you have questions, call Deb Wilberg 472-4042, Angie Tharp 472-2994, or Janet Woodhouse 472-4862.

Pictures will be at the adoption center: 211 West 4th Street, Vinton. Each 4x6 photo is $5. All are welcome - two legged or four! This will be the only visit of the year, so be sure to mark the date on your calendar!

Iowa Assessment tests to being next week for VS

Beginning Tuesday, April 2, through Friday, April 5, students in grades 9-11 will be taking Iowa Assessments. Our staff visited with students this past week pertaining to the importance of the test, being in attendance and giving their best effort. Your student was also provided test links through their gmail account so they can practice test questions and become more comfortable with the on-line testing process.

V-S 10U Baseball Trivia Night Announces new location

The upcoming trivia night fundraiser for Vinton-Shellsburg 10U baseball teams has changed locations due to the flooding issues at the Legion.Our event will be held at the Vinton Country Club at the same day/time Friday, April 5th. Doors open at 6:30 pm, the first question will be at 7:30 pm.  Have supper at the fire department's fish fry and then come out to the Country Club to support local youth baseball.
