SPRING HAS SPRUNG IN CENTER POINT LIBRARY - Event - Thursdays in April

SPRING HAS SPRUNG AND GARDEN TALKS ARE COMING UP!Friends of the Center Point Library and Linn County Master Gardeners are sponsoring free garden talks every Thursday night in the month of April. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. you can find us up front at the Center Point Library located at 720 Main St. in Center Point. April 3 - the discussion will be about heirloom plantsApril 10 - learn about creating an edible landscapeApril 17 - we will introduce some new and unusual perennial plantsApril 24 - learn about harvesting big yields from little gardens.

Summer Science Discovery Camp

Dive into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) with Benton County 4-H this summer! K-5th Grade youth (grade completed as of May 2025) will discover environmental science, explore nature, and build literacy skills during Benton County 4-H’s Summer Science Discovery Camp. Topics covered: Flower Power: Learn about the life cycle of flowering plants through hands-on observations.

Grassley to Host Federal Judiciary Youth Summit for Iowa High School Students

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) will host his sixth Federal Judiciary Youth Summit on Monday, April 14, 2025, at the U.S. Courthouse in Cedar Rapids. The summit allows students and educators to learn more about the federal judiciary system and their constitutional freedoms. Grassley has served on the Senate Judiciary Committee throughout his time in the U.

Benton County Fair Rodeo, Thursday, June 26

If you enjoy a good rodeo, mark your calendar for June 26, 2025! The Wright Rodeo Company will bring the rodeo to Benton County. Beginning at 7:00 p.m. you can enjoy the rodeo from the grandstands. Tickets for the event are $15 for adults and $10 for children, children 5 and under are free. Tickets are cash only. This is a United Rodeo Association & Iowa Rodeo Cowboys Association Sanctioned Event.

Have you ever wanted to learn to crochet? Join us April 5

Join us at the library for a lesson on crocheting! Steph Gibbs will be demonstrating a two-color granny square. All materials will be provided. The class will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.We are located at 510 2nd Ave., in Vinton. 

Benton County Corn College Events

The Benton County Corn Growers will be hosting a "Corn College Program" this year. The purpose of the program is to connect and inform non-ag business professionals and community members about the corn industry. We hope to bridge the growing gap between the farm and the everyday consumer to create transparency behind what goes down on the farm to create the food and products we use every day.
