Weekly AA Meeting

The weekly meeting of AA is held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 516 2nd Ave. There are open meetings each Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Non-smoking and handicap accessible. Old Creamery Nature Trail

The Old Creamery Nature Trail is just over 14 miles in length and runs  from Vinton through Garrison to Dysart.  The trail is open for the use  of walkers, runners, bicyclists,  bird watchers and nature  enthusiasts.  The trail base is primarily composed of limestone and we  do our best to keep it mowed and sprayed during the warm weather  months.

Local Coalition Announces Summer Youth Summit

  The Benton County Above the Influence Coalition is proud to announce the receipt of a grant totaling more than $4000 from the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) that will allow the group to produce a youth summit during the summer of 2010. The summit will be youth led and will focus on how alcohol and drugs affect youths’ futures.

The first few days of “Vinton Today” are behind us and we’re very pleased with the fantastic support; thanks for your votes of confidence!  We logged more than 350 hits on the “Vinton Today” within the first few hours and in just a few days more than 150 people have become fans of Vinton Today’s Facebook page.

BCHS performs 'You Can't Take it with You'

Zaniness ruled onstage at Benton Community High School this past  weekend with their spring production of the classic comedy "You Can't  Take It with You." In this show, the free-spirited Sycamore family  tries to teach the uptight Kirbys that there's more to life than  making money.  Production dates were Friday, March 26, and Saturday,  March 27.

Holy Week at a Glance March 29-April2

Prepare for a blessed Easter by worshipping as a Christian community every day during Holy Week. The Vinton Area Ministerial Association offers a daily ecumenical service at the following area churches: Monday, March 29 at 7am: Presbyterian Church, 608 1st Avenue, Vinton with a continental breakfast to follow.   Tuesday, March 30 at 7am: Blessed Hope Church, 1509 South M Avenue, Vinton with a continental breakfast to follow.

Sunday Night Live At Blessed Hope

Sunday Night Live! Tomorrow evening (Sunday, March 21st) @ 6 p.m. at Blessed Hope Church (the church on the hill behind Theisens in Vinton). It is a contemporary, non-denominational worship service, with local musicians. Casual setting, so come as you are and bring a friend.

Family Fitness Fair on April 24, 2010

  The Tilford PTO is sponsoring a Family Fitness Fair on April 24, 2010 from 9AM-12PM.  The goal of the event is to promote health awareness and fitness.  There will be activity stations, exercise demonstrations, healthy eating samples and some fun relays to get everyone moving!  Any business interested in setting up a booth, doing a demonstration during the event or with further questions should contact Melissa Sivola at 319-214-4053.
