American Legion Auxilary Hold Brunch

On Sunday May 16th, the Mt. Auburn Legion Auxilary will hold a brunch from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. Auburn Legion Hall.  Everyone is welcome to attend! Adults eat for $7 each, chidlren 10 and under are $5, and preschool children eat free. Come and support the Auxilary.

Benton County Master Gardeners to hold Sale

The Benton County Master Gardeners, will be holding their annual plant sale in a little more than a week.  The sale will be held at the Benton County Fairgrounds in the Open Show building.  The gardeners use the money from this event will go into their fund to help with other projects around the area. There will be in the neighborhood of 15-20 Master Gardeners at the sale.

 MLMP Workshop Wednesday, May 26 6:30  9 pm Izaak Walton League, Vinton, Iowa The World Wildlife Fund has included the monarch butterfly on its list of the Ten to Watch in 2010  largely due to the multiple threats to the migration phenomenon. Habitat destruction in the overwintering forests of Mexico has been compounded with the huge loss of milkweed in the North American agricultural belt due largely to Round-up Ready farming, which kills milkweed along with other weeds in farm fields.
