Kirkwood Sets Fall Career Planning, Job Fair Events
Kirkwood Community College will hold two events of interest to job-seekers and those seeking new career options. The college’s Career Services office will hold a “Jobs 411” information session on Tuesday, Oct. 19, and a fall Career Fair on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Both sessions will be held in the Iowa Rooms, third floor of Iowa Hall on the Cedar Rapids campus.
CRP Native Grass Field Day Set
October 12 Field Day will focus on establishing native grasses
Many of the bids in the 39th Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) signup included putting native grasses or native pollinator habitat on a portion of the CRP acres. To help landowners learn more about getting good establishment of the native grasses, a field day has been set for Tuesday, October 12 at 6:00 p.
Yard Sale Oct. 2: Horridge House needs your donations!
This Saturday, September 25, The Horridge House Team will be accepting donations for their First Annual Yard Sale.
Items may be dropped off at The Horridge House, located at 612 First Ave. in Vinton, between 8:00-11:00 AM.
Gently used clothing, housewares, decorations, small furniture items are all welcome! The Yard Sale is to benefit The Horridge House restoration fund, and will be held October 2.

Progressive Agriculture Farm Safety Day Camp Planned
A farm safety day camp for any Benton County student in 4th, 5th and 6th grade is being planned for Saturday, September 25, 2010. The event will run from 8:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. at the Benton County Fairgrounds in Vinton. The Benton County Extension Service in conjunction with Progressive Agriculture, Benton County Farm Bureau, Vinton-Shellsburg FFA, Benton Community FFA, Vinton Family Practice, Virginia Gay Hospital and county beef, pork and dairy commodity groups are sponsoring the event.
