Display to honor sacrifices of Benton County soldiers in Civil War
This year marks 150 years since the beginning of the Civil War in 1861. Iowans stepped up immediately to serve in the Union Army. Workshops Provide Environmental Update for Medium-Sized Feedlots & Dairies

Tree planting scheduled Friday to honor AmeriCorps NCCC Community Event Day
AmeriCorps NCCC is having a Community event day with the Vinton Parks and Recreation Department on Friday, June 3 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Celebration Park located at 1st Avenue and West 2nd St., next to the Cedar River Bridge.
Visitors to the Community Day will have the opportunity to help plant one of thirty trees with AmeriCorps NCCC members.
American Cancer Society, Benton County Relay For Life Entertainment Schedule
The Benton County Relay for Life event takes place tomorrow night at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School track (Karr Field). Below is a shedule of events and entertainment.

Cooling Dancers to Perform Spring Recital June 4-5
Cooling Dance Center will present its annual spring recital Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5, at the VSHS Auditorium. Curtain times each day are 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., and admission is $2.00 at the door.
Each performance will feature a variety of age groups and dance styles in colorful costuming.
