Better Tomorrows Board to meet May 2
Better Tomorrows Board will be meeting on May 2nd at the Kirkwood Vinton Center at 12:00 p.m. Topics of discussion will be insurance, preschool scholarships, Co-Director salary/benefits, web site, payroll provider, by-laws, transition plan 501© and 28E agreement.

Legion plans tenderloin fry May 5, in Vinton
The American Legion George G. Luckey Post 57 members have planned a Tenderloin Dinner Saturday, May 5, 2012, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
The legion is located at 105 North R Ave. in Vinton.
The menu includes: Breaded Tenderloin on a Bun, French Fried Potatoes

Master Gardener Extravaganza, plant sale set for May 12 at VSHS
The 8th Annual Master Gardeners Spring Extravagana will be held on Saturday, May 12 at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School.
The event starts with a plant sale from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. that is open to the public. There will be loads of plants grown and tested by Master Gardeners to put in your sun or shade gardens. There will also be garden art flowers, decorative solar lights, concrete leaf castings and much more for sale.

University of Iowa men's basketball coach Fran McCaffery, wrestling coach Tom Brands, retired football defensive coordinator Norm Parker and others will meet Hawkeye fans and speak to the audience during the May 24 Benton County I-Club banquet at Keystone Turner Hall.

Breast Cancer Survivors Group to meet May 1

VS Band Extragavanza set for Monday evening at VSMS
The annual Vinton-Shellsburg BAND EXTRAVAGANZA CONCERT is this Monday, April 23, at 7 P.M. at the Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School. The concert will feature the 6th, 7th, 8th, and HS Bands. End of the year awards will also be announced.

Congressional candidate Ben Lange to visit Vinton tonight
Ben Lange is seeking the Republican Nomination for the U S House of Representatives representing the Iowa first district.
Mr. Lange has been invited to Vinton by Benton County Advocates. This forum will take place April 19 at the U S Bank Community Building in Vinton. The forum will begin at 7:00 PM. Mr. Lange grew up in Quasqueton, Iowa, is married and has three daughters.
