IRVM Hydro-seeder demonstration cancelled; may be rescheduled
The display of the Hydro seeder has been delayed again due to the weather; we may announce a rescheduled time later, at least 48 hours in advance of the event.
Integrated Roadside Vegetation Management (IRVM) committee is taking the opportunity to display their new Hydro seeder on the roadway at the Benton County Conservation Boards’ Nature Center at Rodgers Park.

Pressure Canner Testing Dates
Pressure canners with a dial-type pressure gauge should be tested each year for accuracy. Rachel Wall, ISU Extension Nutrition and Health Specialist, will be offering testing of dial gauge pressure canners. Following are the dates and times this service will be offered during the summer of 2013.

Relay for life set for Friday in Vinton
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Benton County will be this
Friday, June 7, 2013, at the Vinton-Shellsburg Track.
Everyone is invited to this celebration of more birthdays and this year, also celebrating the 100th birthday of the American Cancer Society. The schedule for the evening is:

Free Fishing Weekend: BC Conservation plans two clinics
In recognition of Iowa's Free Fishing weekend, Benton County Conservation will be hosting fishing clinics this weekend at Rodgers and Hannen Parks.
The clinic at Rodgers Park near Vinton, will start at 6:30 p.m., Friday, June 7. Participants are asked to meet at the park office.
The clinic at Hannen Park, near Blairstown, will start at 8:00 a.
PEO HG and MZ chapters to have supper, meeting June 10
PEO Chapter HG will hold a supper and social meeting with Chapter MZ at the Vinton Country Club on June 10, 2013 at 6:30 PM. Reservations are required by Wednesday, June 5th for the supper. The program will be a report on the Iowa State Convention.
Bloomsbury Farms to aid March of Dimes with corn maze, mud run
The March of Dimes is celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year, and what better way to spread the word than to inscribe their logo into a 10-acre cornfield? Bloomsbury Farm, in Atkins, is proud to be displaying the March of Dimes' 75th Anniversary Logo in their 10-acre corn maze this year! The maze will be planted in early June, cut in late June, and will be ready for visitors by the end of July!
Bloomsbury Farm will also be hosting the Challenge Run on August 17 to benefit the March of Dimes.

Breast Cancer Survivors will meet Tuesday, June 4 at 5:30 p.m. for dinner and conversation at Windsor Manor in the dining room. Special high heeled fun is planned for this meeting!
