Need to get your Audiobook box checked for Summer Reading? An Audiobook session for you to come, listen to part, and talk with fellow listeners is scheduled!July 16th, 1 pm, and 5:30 pm. Join the Library to listen to Kent State by Deborah Wiles. (Both sessions will listen to part 1, approx. 20 minutes.) The audience intended: Adult and Upper Young Adult.

Vinton Kiwanis to begin meeting

The Vinton Kiwanis club will hold their regular meeting at the Vinton Country Club on Tuesday. July 7, The meeting will begin at noon.

Dysart Lions' to hold 4th of July Parade

The city of Dysart will be having their annual July 4th parade which will begin at 10:30 a.m. with line up starting at 9:20 a.m. at the Dysart Middle School located at 505 West St. Parade Participants CANNOT throw candy or other items. Respectful social distancing practices would be appreciated. The Dysart Lions Club will be serving the world famous tenderloin with packaged condiments, chips and drink of your choice for $8.

Blairstown Sauerkraut Days Cancels for 2020

In a statement released to the public, it was announced that the Blairstown Sauerkraut Days will be cancelled for this year.The statement released in part says, "In considering the health and safety of our celebration attendees, workers, and the impossibility to maintain social distancing in the light of Covid-19, we decided in everyone's best interests to cancel Sauerkraut Days this year.

Holsten to be honored at retirement walk through reception TODAY, June 23

In an invitation created to look like the check out cards that used to be located in the front of the library books for borrowing, an announcement was made for the retirement party of Virginia Holsten. Vinton's librarian for the past 35 years, Virginia will close the book on her career as one of the most relaxed librarians Vinton has seen.EXCITING NEWS: The Library will be opening June 15th! Please use the North Door at this time.

Farmers Market to kick off in New Location

The local Farmers Market will begin on July 2nd and run weekly through September 24th at Celebration Park. Every Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. people can come and buy produce from area growers. Also available will be food trucks and Merchant Grilling will be on site. The market will be held, rain or shine. If you would like more information, contact the Vinton Parks and Recreation Department at 319-472-4164.

Birthday Drive By Celebration for E.D. Dixon on Thursday Evening

E.D. Dixon will celebrate his 91st birthday on Thursday June 18th. Everyone is invited to join the drive, wave and honk celebration which will take place from 6 to 7 pm tomorrow, on June 18. He will be waiting to see you drive by his home located at 709 C Ave.Vinton. Some of you may recognize E.D. as a former employee at the local compost site for several years.

Oak Grove VBS Rocky Railway July 19-23

Looking for vacation Bible school in the Vinton-Shellsburg area?
