To help strengthen the future of agriculture and rural communities, the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation awarded 98 scholarships to Iowa high school seniors and college students. The recipients include 27 first-time awardees and 71 renewals for 2026.

Scholarships are eligible for renewal for up to four years, or $10,000, for students pursuing a two- or four-year degree at an accredited higher education institution, including community colleges and technical schools. Eligibility is based on Farm Bureau membership, academic achievement, financial need, community and extracurricular involvement, letters of recommendation and demonstrated commitment to rural Iowa.

“Young people are the future of Iowa and our rural communities, and we’re honored to stand with them as they pursue careers that will keep agriculture strong,” said Ronnette Vondrak, Iowa Farm Bureau community resources manager. “Through these scholarships, Iowa Farm Bureau is investing in students’ potential and in the next generation of leaders, innovators and advocates who will help family farms succeed and rural communities prosper for years to come.”

Several locally sponsored scholarships were also awarded. Zachary Knepper and Cecelia Mensching, both of Jesup, were named Robert H. Rewoldt scholarship recipients, a $3,000 award given to a student in northeast Iowa and renewable up to two years. Gabe Moermond of Sutherland and Andrew Nelson of Linn Grove received the Pat and Marilyn Carper $1,000 scholarship, given to students in northwest Iowa. Brock Atwood of Fairfield and Hailey Pedrick of Ollie were named recipients of the $1,000 Beverly Rubey Scholarship, reserved for students who are pursuing a degree in agriculture and reside in Jefferson County.
