Last year, as a freshman at UNI, Daisy Johnson joined the "Out of the Darkness Walk" to raise money for suicide prevention. She set a goal of $500, but ended up raising nearly $2,000.

Vinton Navy Veteran Jim Peterson, during the 2011 Honor Flight. His funeral last month included a military tribute by a team of Navy personnel. Local native Kathryn Close, a retired Air Force Colonel, was among the first to receive this tribute after her death at the San Antonio Military Medical Center.
