FEBURARY 24, 2016

The Vinton Garden Club member of National Garden Clubs, Inc; District II and Central Region met at Pizza Ranch at 11:30 am for lunch, the program and the meeting. The program was given by Jennifer Fencl, Cedar Rapids on “The do's and the don'ts of recycling here in Vinton. It was a very informative and interesting program.

President Fran Stueck called the meeting to order at 1:24 pm. Nine members attended the meeting and answered the roll call of “Do you recycle”?

Secretary Joyce Bratten read the January meeting minutes. There were no corrections so they will stand approved as read

Treasurer Sharen Stueck gave the January Treasurer's Report.

Rosie Boisen gave the report of her and Joyce auditing the Treasurer's books, Anne made motion to accept the audit report, Susie seconded the motion it was approved.

Correspondences:

Fran passed out information on Green Scene, Waterloo for March 5 at Waterloo Center for the Arts.

Cost is $35.00.

Fran shared about a Seminar on Native Vegetation at the Benton County Nature Center on March 6, 2016.

Fran received a Thank You for the club from the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation for the donation.

Sharen received a Thank You for the club from Harmony House for the donation.

Unfinished Business:

Fran finally was able to find a couple of books on “Lillies to put in the Library in memory of Cam Wood.

Six members have signed up to go to the Master Gardener Symposium in Independence on Sat. February 27, 2016.

Members discussed the plans for the upcoming bake sale, it is set for May 17, 2016. If we have an early spring the club may change it to April

New Business:

Fran passed out the new 2016 year books to the members. We have some interesting programs and tours planned.

Discussion was brought up about adopting a family at Christmas time instead of the mittens, hats and etc. that we buy for the children at schools.

Fran and club thanked Joyce for being hostess.

Fran adjourned the meeting.
