Et cetera : Kathleen Steffen earns local, Iowa AMVETS scholarships

Kathleen Elizabeth Steffen has won the Department of Iowa AMVETS Scholarship. She will receive $1,500 from the Department at the State Convention in Marshalltown on June 14. She will also receive a $500 dollar scholarship from Benton County Post 218. Kathleen is the daughter of Kirk and Kelly Steffen. She graduated from Vinton-Shellsburg High School with a GPA of 3.87, is a member of the National Honor Society and played volleyball and softball all four years of high school. She will be attending Des Moines Community College and then continue her education at Upper Iowa University majoring in Accounting and Spanish. Kathleen received a total of $6,000 in scholarships during the awards night at Vinton-Shellsburg High School. Amvets Post 218 will present her the Post Scholarship at their meeting on July 6.
