Heather Elbe, from Osborn, Wisconsin is serving on team Maple 3 in AmeriCorps NCCC Class 20. She arrived in Vinton on February 11 to start her 10-month service term. Maple 3 is made up of nine people from across the country who will serve together around the Midwest.
Heather says that “This program seems like a good opportunity and will help me become more diverse.”
Before Heather joined the NCCC program she was attending college when she first applied and since finishing have been working at a factory and supper club.
Maple 3’s third round project is at Camp Albrecht Acres, Sherrill, Iowa (June 30 – August 16)
Maple 3 will be assisting at Camp Albrecht Acres, which is a camp that provides a recreational camping experience for people with special needs, as additional counselors. The addition of NCCC members will allow the camp to have extra hands to try out programming such as primitive camping that they haven’t been able to do in a while.
