George Bauer, Congregation President & Mike Timmermans from Virginia Gay Hospital
On Sunday, June 15th, Bethlehem Lutheran Church presented the sixth gift of $101 of the year, this time to the Gifts of Hope program, offered through Virginia Gay Hospital.
About 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. The Gifts of Hope is a program created to provide mammograms and pap/pelvic exams to women who couldn't afford them. The program also pays for the exam, lab work and the clinic visit to set up the mammogram. The hospital will also assist anyone that receives a diagnosis that requires treatment and cannot afford this treatment, and in any other way that they can.
In its 101st year, the Bethlehem congregation continues to present these monthly gifts of $101 to deserving community organizations.
