Corey Hennessey, from Pass Christian, Mississippi is serving on team Cedar 3 in AmeriCorps NCCC Class 20. He arrived in Vinton on February 11 to start his 10-month service term. Cedar 3 is made up of seven people from across the country who will serve together around the Midwest.
Corey says he wanted to join the program to grow as a leader and learn new things .
Before Corey joined the NCCC program he was to school and working full time.
Cedar 3’s second round project is at One Heartland in, Willow River, Minnesota
Cedar 3 will be assisting with camp programming and facility upgrades at One Heartland, which is a camp for people who are facing social isolation due to HIV/AIDs, homelessness, Type 2 Diabetes, and identifying GLBTQ. Facility upgrades include the staining of a goat barn, repairing a screen porch, moving the archery program area, and finishing a log cabin
