VS FFA Attends 91st National FFA Convention

By: Shelby McDonald, Co-Reporter October 24th the Vinton- Shellsburg FFA Chapter left the high school around 6:3- am to go to national convention Indianapolis Indiana. We had 16 students attend this year's convention, 3 amazing chaperones: Susie Henkle, Denise Evans, and Marge McDonald, and our 2 advisors.

District Greenhand Day

The Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter took 17 first year students to District greenhand Day on October 5th. This event is held at Wapsie Valley schools every year. It's a good opportunity for the kids to learn what FFA is like and get to know the district officers as well as some state officers. There was about 6 different stations they got to attend, in these stations they meet new people and got experience new things.

Indian Hills Community College has released the names of the students who completed their graduation requirements at the end of the 2018-19 Fall Term. This is a list of students who received an Associate of Arts (AA) degree, Associate of Science (AS) degree, Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree, Diploma, or Certificate from IHCC.

Bruce & Joyce (Morrow) Erickson of Vinton will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on December 7th. They are the parents of Lori (Mike) Cranston of Mt. Vernon & Mark Erickson of Vinton. The couple have been blessed with 7 grandchildren-Marissa & Madison Cranston and Brooks, Curtis, Tess, Aly and the late Reece Erickson.

Card Shower for Lee and Barbara Smith

Please join us, the children of Lee and Barbara Smith, as we honor our parents on their 60th Wedding Anniversary with a card shower. Together they have found a friendship, raised a family and built a beautiful marriage. Lee Smith, Jr. and Barbara Lemon were married November 22, 1958, in Waterloo.

District Soil Judging was September 26th, 2018 at Hawkeye Community College. The FFA members that competed were Eric Henkle, Luke Radeke, and Grant Ries.
