VINTON, IA — Girl Scout Brownie Troup No. 6081 received an unexpected treat at the end of their Virginia Gay Hospital tour on Tuesday, March 23. Troup leaders, Tyneal Herger and Krystal Anderson brought the girls to the facility to discover various careers paths as part of a badge they are earning. After the tour, the girls participated in an impromptu Easter Egg Hunt held in the Nursing & Rehab area. Jessica Birker, Nurse Manager, and the residents enjoyed an afternoon of filling plastic Easter Eggs with an assortment of candy and hiding them throughout the hallways and common areas of the facility. Others helping with the project included Birker’s daughter, Logan, and VGH staff members, Ann Scoggin LPN, Tyler Henkle LPN, and Chelsea Erhardt, Social Services. At the end of the hunt, the scouts treated the residents to their company and a song. “We enjoyed hosting the girls this afternoon. The residents enjoyed watching them scramble to find treats as much as the girls enjoyed the holiday tradition,” commented Birker.
