Virginia Gay Hospital, Clinics, Home Health, Nursing & Rehab and the Virginia Gay Hospital Health Care Foundation have announced the recipients of their annual scholarship awards to area students. This year a total of $10,000 was awarded to high school seniors in the Benton Community, Center Point-Urbana and Vinton-Shellsburg school districts pursuing degrees in nursing or human health professions.

VSCSD announces Iowa Biliteracy Seal Recipients[Vinton, IA] June 8, 2020 – The Vinton-Shellsburg Community School District is pleased to announce that eleven students from the Class of 2020 have earned Biliteracy Seals from the State of Iowa. Those receiving the award under the guidance of VSCSD Spanish instructor Michele Lash include Charles Dudley, Sonnie Evans, Hunter Hazen, Lauren Hendryx, Davia Herger, Lillie Lamont, Caroline Lang, Wesley Mott, Jordan Pattee, Raeleigh Schulte, and Lauren Upmeyer.

Valerie Newhouse, President of Iowa Lakes Community College, has released the spring honors list of full-time students (12 credits or more) who have demonstrated academic excellence by earning a grade point average of 3.25 (based on a 4.00) or higher. Spring semester students who have achieved a 3.25 grade point average or better are recognized by inclusion on the dean's list.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association, in cooperation with Governor Kim Reynolds’ office and title sponsor, the Iowa Farm Bureau have named the recipients of the Governor's Scholarship Program. Among those is Vinton-Shellsburg Senior Lillie Lamont.Iowa’s top academic students have been chosen for the 2020 Governor’s Scholar Program. The Governor’s Office, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, and its title sponsor, the Iowa Farm Bureau, are presenting this recognition which began in 2003.

Minnesota State University, Mankato awarded 2,367 degrees to 2,294 students at the end of the spring 2020 semester, with this spring's graduates celebrated through a special website that launched Saturday, May 9, the day on which the University's three traditional graduation ceremonies were scheduled but canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Each graduate also received personalized URL video messages by email on May 9, and "commencement-in-a-box" packages were shipped to each graduate the week before graduation.
