The 74th Selkern Reunion took place at the homeo of Gerald and Margie Selken on Aug. 3.

AmeriCorps NCCC team Cedar 2 is assisting with Camp Albrecht Acres in Sherrill, Iowa until August 15 as counselors by keeping individuals with special mental and physical needs engaged in multiple fun-filled activities.
For five weeks, Cedar 2 has completed numerous activities with campers like fishing, swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, and volleyball which give campers a fun-filled experience of a day to day life.

AmeriCorps NCCC team Maple 2 is serving with two sponsors: the Bemidji Community Food Shelf (BCFS), and the Developmental Achievement Center (DAC) through August 3. The team has assisted both of their sponsors with various tasks to provide food to the Bemidji community and assist clients with disabilities over at the DAC.

FEMA Corps Class 22 from Vinton, Iowa has successfully completed their team leader training project! For the first time a FEMA Corps class of team leaders was invited to a project at a Regional Office to receive crucial training and information that will prepare them for the upcoming months. Fourteen team leaders traveled to FEMA's Region VII office in Kansas City, Missouri to put their training to the test.

The Keystone High School class of 1959 recently met for its annual class reunion. Following the 50 year reunion, the class decided to meet yearly. Three events culminated this year’s events, with a class banquet held in Cedar Rapids, at a local hotel. Other happenings included a ladies luncheon on Friday, a Mexican Fiesta Friday evening and a Saturday banquet.

AmeriCorps NCCC team Cedar 1 is assisting with One Heartland until September 16 by assisting as camp counselors and with maintenance projects around the worksite. They are revitalizing the camp by beautifying the camp grounds and being positive role models for the campers.
Cedar 1 members are camp counselors which includes leading and setting up skill activities such as canoeing, archery, arts and crafts, fishing, hiking, gardening and helping with the goats.

The Cedar 4 team of AmeriCorps NCCC’s Class XXI headed into their fifth week of service, only this time to respond to a disaster affecting the community of Brainerd, Minn., after devastating straight line winds ravaged through the town. The team served alongside with the Nechama Jewish Response to Disaster, a volunteer organization that provides natural disaster preparedness, response, and recovery services nationwide.

Allison Emrich of Vinton graduated with a degree in fitness management. She is the daughter of Mark and Kimberly Emrich.
Megan Jorgensen of Vinton graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in history and peace & justice studies. She is the daughter of Patrick and Nancy Jorgensen.
