This is a great-looking movie, much enlivened by the inspiration of giving Merida three small brothers, little redheaded triplets. The Scottish Highlands are thrillingly painted in astonishing detail, and some action shows Merida's archery more than equal in assorted emergencies.

Pixar’s “Brave” plays the Palace Friday, July 13 through Thursday, July 19 at 7 p.m. nightly, and Saturday and Monday, July 21 and 23 at 2 p.m., with an additional matinee scheduled on Wednesday, July 25 at 4 p.m.

The stunning and boisterous redheaded Scottish heroine, Merida, handy with a bow and arrow, reminiscent of Disney’s Mulan, won’t be forced into marriage. There’s a queen, an evil witch, and, of course, all the animated characters speak with a delightful Scottish brogue.

Be sure to plan ahead, reserving at the theatre or online, or arriving one hour before show time, as sellout crowds are guaranteed.

“Brave” is rated PG for scary action and rude humor, and runs 100 minutes. Hope you enjoy this new children’s classic at the Palace!
