“Awww, you sunk my battleship!”
Based on the popular Hasbro game, “Battleship” storms the Palace on Friday, June 8 through Thursday, June 14 at 7 p.m., and in a 2 p.m. matinee on Monday, June 11.
This action-adventure film, starring Liam Neeson and Rhianna, and featuring a host of alien invaders, will appeal to those who enjoyed the “Transformers” movies. “Battleship” runs 131 minutes and is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence, action and destruction, and language.
I’ve actually played a lot of “Battleship” in my day. Last night I was trying to recall which of my three brothers, John, Tom or Nick, used to cheat by positioning the game so I was sitting with my back to the television and he could see my battleships in the reflection of the TV. Seriously.
It was probably John. Tom usually gets frustrated and throws the game across the room, and Nick is so strategically intelligent he doesn’t need to cheat.
I admit to utilizing that same television reflection “strategy” on Gerald. He and I used to play a lot of board games after putting the kids to bed, back in the days of no entertainment budget. I’m much better at word games.
Anyway, if the movie proves as entertaining as the board game, “Battleship” will easily be worth the price of your $3 ticket at the Palace!
