Nooooo! I’m sure folks heard me all up and down main street as I groaned in complete disbelief and disappointment when I received Frank the Booker’s message that there were no available prints of “The Help” for us this weekend.
Instead, the Palace will schedule-swap with “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.” This prequel will play Friday, September 16 through Thursday, September 22 at 7 p.m. every evening, and Monday, September 19 at 2 p.m.
Critics and regular movie-goers alike have enjoyed this film. The CGI chimp/ape named Caesar is believable and loveable. James Franco and Frieda Pinto portray the scientists who teach and care for Caesar, and eventually each other.
When I posted the schedule change on Facebook, my daughter Clare responded that she’d just seen “Apes” the night before and it was actually a really good film. Who will enjoy this film? Animal lovers, fans of movies like "Transformers", and those who saw the original “Planet of the Apes” with Charlton Heston.
So cheer up, be patient, and in the meantime, catch “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” for just $2! This sci-fi action adventure, set in San Francisco, runs 105 minutes, and is rated PG-13 for violence, terror, some sexuality and strong language.
“The Help” will open on Friday, September 23. Fingers crossed!
