“Captain America: The First Avenger” in fabulous RealD 3D plays the Palace Friday, September 9 through Thursday, September 15 at 7 p.m. every night, and Monday, September 12 at 2 p.m.

Chris Evans plays Captain America. Comic book movie fans will remember him as Johnny Storm the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four movies. The rest of us look forward to the supporting cast, which includes Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Samuel L. Jackson.

I admit to being a wee bit tired of these Marvel Comic movies, but Roger Ebert equates this one to “Iron Man,” and Gerald thinks the trailer looks FANTASTIC, so I’ll probably watch it.

“Captain America: The First Avenger” is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi action and violence, and sports a running time over two hours. I recommend leaving the little ones with a sitter or you’ll miss all the good parts hanging out in the lobby and bathroom.

IA vs ISU

It’s time to bring out the caution tape! The Hawks battle State on Saturday, September 10 at 11 a.m., and you can catch all the action on the big screen – FOR FREE!

Alcoholic beverages in plastic or cans are welcome, but please buy all other snacks at our concessions counter. We’re adding walking tacos and chili to the game day menu, which already features brats, hotdogs and nachos!

THE HELP

Don’t put off getting your tickets! There’s LOTS of buzz about this movie, which opens at the Palace next Friday night. I can’t wait, and I’ve heard the same from so many others who fell in love with the book. FYI – non-readers (and men!) will like this movie, too! “The Help” is highly entertaining, and funny!

Lobby talk: “We’ve already seen it, but we’ll be catching it again at the Palace. My husband was surprised at how much he enjoyed it.”
