Brigadoon, ACT I of Benton County's first main stage production of the 20011-2012 season, enters its second month of rehearsal in high gear as a cast of over 20 individuals studies music, dance, and script in preparation for the summer production.
The famed Lerner and Lowe musical, the first of several musicals ACT I will stage this season, will be performed at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School Auditorium August 5-14 for six performances.
Brigadoon is a mystical village which rises out of the highland mists once every 100 years. As chance would have it, two travelers happen upon the village on the very morning the village appears. One of the young men (played by Roger Pollock) falls in love with a girl in the village (Molly Ternus), and soon finds he must choose between her and a life in this strange country, or return to New York and the woman he is already engaged to.
Featuring well-known songs such as "It's Almost Like Being In Love" and "Heather On The Hill" and large, colorful dance numbers, Brigadoon is sure to cast a magical spell over the local community.
Tickets will be on sale in mid-July, and will be $10.00 for adults and $7.00 for students and seniors. Visit http://act1.org for more details about the production.
