Entertainment : Rock of Ages Hits the Stage at the Palace Theatre This Weekend!

ACT I of Benton County will be performing the hit musical Rock of Ages this weekend at the Palace Theatre in Vinton. The musical is built around popular rock hits from the 1980s and features songs from Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, and many more!

The story is centered in Hollywood in the late 1980s and follows Drew, an aspiring rock star who longs to take the stage as the next big thing, and Sherrie, a small town girl fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes. The rock-n-roll fairy tale is threatened when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the sunset strip, in particular the Bourbon Room bar, into yet another capitalist strip mall. Throw in a legendary rock star, a group of protestors led by the mayor's former assistant, and the antics of the bar owner and his sidekick (also known as the show's narrator) and it's a recipe for a rockin' good time!

Rock of Ages will be performed August 1st and 2nd at 7PM, and August 4th at 2PM and 6PM. Tickets can be purchased at tickets.act1.org and will also be available at the door one hour prior to each performance. All tickets are $15.
