Playing Friday, June 17 through Thursday, June 23 at 7 p.m. every night, and Monday, June 20 at 2 p.m. is “Thor” in fabulous RealD 3D. This movie is rated PG-13 and runs just under 2 hrs.

The epic adventure “Thor” spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the mystical realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is banished to Earth where he is forced to live among humans and learns what it takes to be a true hero.

As comic book hero movies go, I doubt this one is as good as “Ironman,” but maybe that’s because I adore Robert Downey Jr? Here’s what some of the critics had to say on rottentomatoes.com. FYI – “Thor” garnered a 77% approval rating from critics, 80% from regular movie-goers.

~Despite under-imagined action sequences, the movie's intentional humor and Tom Hiddleston's well-played Loki save it from mediocrity.

~It only took about 10 minutes for a wide smile to form across my face at the realization that 'oh, man they got it right!'

~The Marvel movie machine puts another second-string superhero on the A-list.

W June 16, 2011, 2:16 pm Saw the movie and Thor is a great set piece leading up to next year\'s Avengers movie. Captain America - coming out later this summer - is also part of that. For Thor viewers, be sure to stay all the way through the end titles for a surprise - just like Iron Man.
