ACT I of Benton County is pleased to announce that we will be holding auditions for our upcoming musical production of Seussical the Musical. Auditions. The performance dates for Seussical the Musical are scheduled for August 4th and 5th at 7 PM, August 6th at 2 PM and 7 PM, and August 7th at 2 PM. will be held on Sunday,

If you would like to audition for a part in the musical, audition dates are as follows: April 24th from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, and on Monday, April 25th from 6-8 PM, at the ACT I Centre located at the old West School. Callbacks, if needed, will be held on Tuesday, April 26th at 6 PM.

Seussical is a wonderful show for adults and kids alike that brings the world of Dr. Seuss to life. Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphantly.

Please note: We will be casting adults, teens and youth in the show. It is a great show for families to participate in together. Youth ages 12 and under should be accompanied by an adult to auditions so we can ensure we get the proper contact information.

Roles to be cast include the following:

● Horton the Elephant (adult male): Horton is a gentle giant. Think of him as a big-hearted guy who is steadfast, responsible and always tries to do the right thing for his friends.

● Gertrude McFuzz (adult female): Gertrude McFuzz is very self-conscious and aware that her one-feather tail isn't perfect. She changes during the show from a neurotic, nervous and shy bird into one with the power to protect and care for others.

● The Cat In The Hat (male or female): The Cat is the essence of mischief, fun and imagination. The Cat stirs things up, and causes trouble but always sets things right again, helping JoJo to discover the power of his own imagination.

● JoJo (youth male or female): A 'Thinker', a smart child with a wild imagination.

● Mayzie La Bird (adult female): Mayzie is self-centered, selfish and vain. She will never admit to her own flaws.

● Sour Kangaroo (adult female): She really isn't sour at all, just has a lot of attitude! She's loud, brassy and a lot of fun!

● Bird Girls (teen/adult female): A clique of self-centered "back-up birds" who do whatever Mayzie does.

● Wickersham Brothers (teen/adult male): A group of monkeys who are a lot like kids who tease, play pranks and get a kick out of making mischief.

● Mr. Mayor (adult male) and Mrs. Mayor (adult female): Whos who are parents trying hard to raise a difficult child in a difficult world.

● General Genghis Kahn Schmitz (adult male): A mean Who-general who runs the military academy.

In addition, there are many other small roles including Thing 1 and Thing 2, The Grinch, Yertle the Turtle, Young Kangaroo, and Cindy Lou Who, as well as a Jungle of Nool ensemble and a Who ensemble.
